Rain is probably the most feared weather of all because too much of it could cause a lot of troubles and destructions to our surroundings as well as daily lives. Heavy rains can be extremely devastating especially to places where the foundations of households and buildings are not as sturdy as it is in the city. Places such as remote provinces and islands are the ones which are mostly affected whenever storms and heavy rains occur.
Rain is said to be a shower of blessings but too much of it could be a great damage to us. Some even causes death of numerous lives of crops, animals, and also human beings. Being fully equipped with these things can lessen the impact of the heavy rain. Here are some of the most common results of heavy rain.
- Flood – This is primarily the most common thing that happens every time a heavy rain occurs. Places with low ventilation and blocked or clogged drainage systems are the ones that catch flood easily. Never underestimate the capacity of flood because strong and high water levels of flood can wipe out an entire village. Remember that God used flood in order to wipe out everything in the world leaving only a few living things alive including Noah and his family.
- Crop Destruction – In provinces and remote villages who makes use of planting as a way of living, rain is considered to be one of their most feared enemy. Heavy rain may lead to a total destruction of plants and other crops.
- Soil Erosion/Landslide – Because of the heavy rain, parts of the soil in higher areas may be loosened thus, causing the earth to erode. This is a big threat to people living near mountain sides because a massive weight of soil can fall over them and destroy all their properties and worst, might also kill all of them.
- Increased Road Accidents – Because of the rain, the roads become wet and slippery causing drivers to have difficulties upon driving their vehicles. It is also easier to catch an accident because it is harder to stop a running car whenever the road is wet.
- Sicknesses – Sicknesses such as colds and fever can be easily acquired during a heavy rain because of the temperature and surroundings. That is why it is always important to wear a thick clothing including boots for the feat to avoid diseases upon entering your body.
Rain actually has more negative effects on us depending on the person’s situation and location. That is why it is always important to prepare earlier whenever there is a threat of heavy storm. Precautionary measures such as stacking up enough food supplies, emergency supplies and clothing are imperative. It would be better if you have an insurance to cover the damage if ever.
